Introduction
"The House of Gadd" officially opened its doors in December 2008.
Our main purpose is the restoration and preservation of fine antiques. We use a combination of traditional and new methods to ensure the preservation of the piece for many years to come.
The Restoration
Research is done on every piece and the utmost attention is given to detail to ensure that the restoration process and techniques are as close as possible to the time the piece was originally made. When we clean a piece we use a specialized cleaning liquid to ensure that the patina is not damaged or removed thus ensuring no loss in value. We have developed our own mix of waxes to polish the antique pieces with.
We offer the following services;
1) French polishing
2) All types of professional repairs (including delicate veneer and inlay work)
3) Clocks
4) The carving and reproduction of missing pieces (where possible, antique wood is used).

The Restorers
Each restorer is given training in the art of antique restoration and preservation. The restorer is given a theoretical exam followed by a practical one. Because of the 70% pass rate, we make sure that each restorer knows his work before continuing onto the next level. There are nine levels in total. Even if a restorer reaches a certain level, he can be demoted if there is a drop in the expected standards of work. In the world of restoration there is only room for perfectionism.
